Royal Caribbean in 2021

By

Jon Fletcher of Cruise Holidays UK

2021 is going to be a big and exciting year for Royal Caribbean and one that fans of the cruise line can look forward to in anticipation of fun times.  So in this article I am going to look ahead at what you can expect from them.

2021 will see the launching of another Oasis Class ship, Wonder of the Seas. Like her predecessors in the Oasis Class she will take the title of Biggest Ship in the World, at an amazing 230,000 tonnes.  Although she will still have many of the design features of her older sisters she will take the Oasis Class to the next level with some major improvements and will look far sleeker.  Although her itineraries have not officially been announced yet, it is expected that she will sail from Shanghai and feature China and the Far East.

Symphony of the Seas is expected to spend 2021 in Miami, doing 7 night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

Harmony of the Seas will start 2021 in Port Canaveral where she will do 7 night cruises.  This will be a great opportunity to combine a cruise with either a few days exploring the Space Coast and an opportunity to visit NASA or a pre-cruise stay in the theme park capital of the World, Orlando.  In April 2021 she will embark on a Transatlantic Repositioning Cruise from Port Canaveral to Barcelona.  When she arrives in Europe she is expected to undergo a period in dry dock for a scheduled maintenance visit.  During the summer of 2021 she will be homeporting in Barcelona and Rome and sailing the Western Mediterranean.  Autumn 2021 will see her embark on a transatlantic repositioning cruise from Barcelona back to Port Canaveral where she will resume her 7 night cruises.

Allure of the Seas is expected to join Symphony of the Seas in Miami for Early 2021 where she will like her sister, Symphony of the Seas, will do 7 night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.  In April 2021 she will move to Port Canaveral replacing Harmony of the Seas.  On the return of Harmony of the Seas, Allure will reposition to her new home port, Galveston.  Royal Caribbean have been building a purpose built new terminal to accommodate Allure of the Seas.  Allure of the Seas was due to undergo her Amplification in 2020 but due to the CoVid 19 problems that has been postponed and although no new date has been confirmed, it is generally believed that this will now take place at some point in 2021, which may affect her plans.

Oasis of the Seas will start 2021 in Port Everglades doing 7 night cruises.  Then at the start of the summer season she will reposition from Port Everglades up to Cape Liberty in New Jersey where she will home port for the summer season doing 5 and 9 night cruises.  At the end of her summer season she will reposition from Cape Liberty back to Port Everglades where she will once again resume her 7 night cruises.

November 2020 will hopefully see the launch of the newest Quantum Class ship, Odyssey of the Seas and her debut season in winter 2020 will be from her home port in Port Everglades from where she will do 6, 7 and 8 night cruises.  At the end of the Spring 2021 she will do a transatlantic reposition cruise from Port Everglades to Rome, where she will homeport for Summer 2021 doing 7 night cruises to the Western Mediterranean and Greek Islands.  At the end of the summer season she will do another repositioning transatlantic cruise from Rome back to Port Everglades where she will resume her 6, 7, and 8 night cruises.

Spectrum of the Seas will remain in Asia doing 4 to 8 night cruises.

Ovation of the Seas will start 2021 in Sydney doing 5 to 13 night cruises before embarking on a transpacific repositioning voyage from Sydney Seattle, where she will homeport for a summer season in Alaska.

Anthem of the Seas will start 2021 in Cape Liberty before a transatlantic reposition cruise to Southampton where she will be based for the summer and cruise the Baltic and Northern Europe.  At the end of the summer season will do a transatlantic reposition cruise from Southampton to Cape Liberty where she will be based for the 2021 autumn and winter seasons.

Quantum of the Seas will start 2021 in Singapore doing Far East cruises during the spring season and then will do a transpacific reposition cruise and do a summer season of Alaska itineraries.

Independence of the Seas is scheduled to home port in Port Everglades.  She will then transfer in November to Port Canaveral for the winter season where she will be doing 3 or 4 night cruises.

Liberty of the Seas is expected to spend most of the year sailing from Galveston.  She will then do a reposition cruise from Galveston down to Miami where she will homeport for the Winter season doing 3 and 4 night cruises.

Freedom of the Seas will start 2021 sailing from San Juan.  At the end of the spring season she will do a reposition cruise from San Juan to Cape Liberty.   During the summer she will sail from Cape Liberty on 4, 5 and 7 night cruises before a reposition cruise at the end of the summer season from New York to Puerto Rico, where she will resume her Caribbean itineraries.

Mariner of the Seas is expected to continue being based in Port Canaveral.  However when Independence of the Seas is in port she will do 4 and 5 night cruises.

Navigator of the Seas will start the year in Miami however when Liberty of the Seas transfers to Miami, Navigator of the Seas will transfer to Port Everglades where she will continue with her current itineraries.

Adventure of the Seas is expected to spend 2021 in Galveston.  At some point during 2021 Adventure of the Seas is planned to undergo a Royal Amplification but there is no confirmation yet of when it will happen.

Another ship expecting a Royal Amplification in 2021 is Explorer of the Seas.  She will start the year in Miami and then move to Galveston  for the summer season before returning to Miami for the Autumn and winter season.

Voyager of the Seas will start the year in Sydney and will do 6 and 14 night cruises until April 2021.  She will then do a Trans-Pacific reposition cruise from Sydney to Los Angeles.  Where she will spend the summer and do 3 and 4 night cruises.

Serenade of the Seas will start 2021 in Sydney then prior to the summer season she will cross the Pacific to her USA home and will be sailing around Alaska for the summer season.

Radiance of the Seas will start the year in Brisbane before following Serenade of the seas across the Pacific to the USA for a summer season cruising Alaska.

Brilliance of the seas is going to be busy in 2021.  She starts her year in Tampa where she will be homeported before transferring to Miami for the summer season.  At the end of the summer season she will embark on a repositioning cruise from Miami to Boston where she will be based for the autumn season sailing to New England and Canada.  At the end of the autumn season she will embark on a repositioning cruise from Boston to Tampa.  She will spend the winter in Tampa.

Vision of the seas will start the year in Port Everglades.  At the end of the spring season she will embark on a repositioning cruise from Port Everglades to the Mediterranean where she will spend the summer.

Rhapsody of the Seas will begin her year in Tampa and in early summer will embark on a Transatlantic repositioning cruise to Europe where she will spend the summer.  At the end of the summer season she will then embark on a return transatlantic repositioning cruise from Europe back to Tampa.  She will spend the winter based in Tampa.

Enchantment of the Seas will start her year based in San Juan.  Then in April she will sail from San Juan to her summer base in Baltimore.  She is expected to return to San Juan for the winter.

Majesty of the Seas will homeport in New Orleans all year round and will sail on 6, 7 and 8 Night cruises.

Empress of the Seas will have a busy year.  She will begin her year in Miami.  She will then embark on an early springtime repositioning cruise from Miami to Cape Liberty where she will join Brilliance of the Seas sailing around New England and Canada.  At the end of her summer season she will embark on a repositioning cruise from Cape Liberty to her new home in San Juan.

Fans of Grandeur of the Seas will no doubt be sad to see her leave the Royal Caribbean fleet before 2021 seasons start.

I am sure you will agree that 2021 will hold a lot of promise for their fans.  Whilst these are the plans at the moment due to the Covid 19 issues these plans could change.
